About us
Portland Comedy Collective is a nonprofit organization committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive comedy scene in Portland, Oregon. Our goal is to bring the attention that Portland's amazing and hilarious comedy scene deserves.

Stand Up Comedy
Stand-up is the backbone of Portland’s comedy scene: a mic, a voice, and a point of view. From intimate open mics to packed showcases, comedians use stand-up to share sharp observations, personal stories, and bold ideas shaped by life in the city. Portland is also home to a thriving queer comedy community, with LGBTQ+ performers and producers creating spaces that are inclusive, fearless, and genuinely funny. The result is stand-up that’s diverse in perspective and deeply connected to the people who make this city what it is.

Improv and Sketch Comedy
Improv and sketch comedy are fast, collaborative, and joyfully unpredictable. Improv thrives on spontaneity, with performers creating scenes in the moment based on audience suggestions, while sketch comedy delivers tightly written, character-driven pieces that blend absurdity with insight. Portland’s improv and sketch scene is fueled by strong communities, training programs, and experimental shows that reward creativity and risk-taking. Whether fully scripted or completely made up on the spot, these formats highlight the power of comedy as a team sport.

Storytelling
Storytelling sits at the intersection of comedy and real life, turning personal experiences into shared moments of laughter and connection. These shows often feature longer, narrative-driven pieces where humor grows out of honesty, vulnerability, and unexpected twists. In Portland, storytelling events celebrate a wide range of voices and experiences, creating rooms where audiences don’t just laugh—they listen, relate, and leave feeling a little more connected than when they arrived.
